grinding disguised as questing
new to the game, so far i'v had to get juvinile termite legs for a collector, at least 150 kills to get it for my mesmer
between all 3 of my guys i have found !1! iboga petal for feast of bokka quest, all 3 of my guys are lvl 7-8 all 3 of my guys got this at lvl 3 i have killed thousande of these things and nothing but 1 if this is indicative of whats to come from lvls 8 onward i'll be very annoyed by this tedium i'm tempted to tell the guy he cant take his feast and shove it, but i'v already spent so much time trying to get this damn petal i dont wanna give up now and if god smiles on me and it does drop, i still gotta get the scales, which somehow all seem to get damaged by me killing the stupid things so i never see those either rawrr |

I feel your pain. This quest in fact is one of the most annoying things I encountered in GW so far. Be assured there are not many quests like that (most quests go more like: travel there, kill this, cash in the reward).

If you want to meet me at Kamadan, I have an ele mule who has some termite legs, iboga petals and skale fins that you can have. The only thing I don't have is the drake flesh.
PM me here or in game to meet. |

Ah, yes, these ones are pretty frustrating when you first get them. The items needed rarely seem to drop, and the reward doesn't feel like it's worth it. Particularly for things like Drakekabobs.
I made 5-8 of each of the feast items because it's the closest thing to crafting in this game, and I felt like it, and never completed the quest. They provide mostly useless, but still nice buffs, and I think a huge part of the quest's existance is based solely on introducing you to the chefs. I could be wrong though. Someone might just have a sadistic streak. Last edited by Mercury Angel; Apr 16, 2007 at 02:01 PM // 14:01.. |

You can always buy the needed items from someone. I think I have plenty of everything, so if you want, pm here and I'll get with you in game and give them to you.

I'll admit there is a bit of grinding in nightfall that isn't there in the other games. There are only very few quests that require grinding though and you'll get rid of them soon enough fortunatley. After that, you can grind for some titles if you want but it's not necessary at all.

Glad to help. I keep a supply for new guild members, as this quest is so annoying it makes people want to quit playing.

Don't worry, there's more of those quests yet to come! My absolute favourite is the collect 10 Inscribed Shards quest. Such a joy to complete.
Really, the running quests in Factions was nothing compared to these annoyances. |

One thing to remember is that the only quests that are required to move through the story are the primary ones that lead you to the missions. For all the other quests, if you feel like one is too much of a grind or too annoying to bother with then just skip it. You certainly don't need to do every quest to get to level 20.

People want to quit playing because of one quest? I have to admit, it took some time before the Drake Flesh dropped for me, but I just went on with the other quests. No need for farming those Iboga's, this quest will complete itself after you've spent some time exploring/questing. Or maybe I'm just lucky, and the creatures tend to drop stuff I need the most (doesn't apply to those darn smites though).
But it is good to see experienced people will share there goods with people needing them more, revamps my faith a bit of the GW-community |

After you get all you need they'll be dropping stupidly regularly!
It's Sod's Law after all. You could try taking a lvl 20 character and NUKEZ0RING teh termites until they give you what you want. (NUKEZ0RING = solo farming, but solofarming lvl 2 termites sounded kinda stupid, my made up word sounded better) Last edited by Cebe; Apr 16, 2007 at 02:47 PM // 14:47.. |

If you're using heroes, go solo or just dont take as many. You'll get the drops much quicker

@Arduinna - um, um, ok, I'm slightly obsessive. Unfinished quests drive me crazy and I can't bring myself to abandon them. The reason new players get frustrated is because it comes so early in the game that they think a lot of quests will be this difficult to complete.
And I just picked up the shards quest yesterday for my dervish. 50 kills so far and not a single shard. Guess this is something else I'll have to stock for future use. |

well, i was growing tired of the game cuz i liked my warrior, but that was all i see anywhere and i hate playing the fotm class...and every other class but my mesmer was boring
so this questing problem just compounded my lack of interest in the game, but i followed darcy's advice in game and just played what i like, i'm having fun again with my warrior even if i am the 6 millionth one playing at any given time |

Going alone and one-hit-killing things with a level 5 dervish (sup. scythe rune to reach the req. 9 of soulbreaker) isn't that big of a deal. It does about 120 dmg per pop.

Do it by yourself, no henchies or heroes, and your bound to get more drops. OR you just have bad luck in drops thats all. Some quests will spawn more of the mobs in the area after completed, such as the juvinile legs, complete one of the quests I can't remember and a bigger mob will spawn there from now on.

Generally speaking I found those types of quests one you complete by playing the game, not trying to complete them.
In a normal progression of playing missions and other quests you will most likely get the required parts by the time you get off of istan, in fact you will most likely have a few spares (chunks of drake flesh tend to be the rarest, ilboga petals and termite legs are pretty easy to get if you solo farm any areas that has them). If not, by then you will have more than enough gold to purchase one from another player. There are a few other such quests. Just trying to complete them is a grind, letting them sit until you get the parts isn't. |
